We believe that making a difference doesn’t just happen at an organisational level, it starts with our people. That’s why Banner offers all employees two paid charity days each year, giving them the opportunity to support the causes that matter most to them.
This initiative is a direct reflection of Banner’s core values, helping to build stronger communities while honouring the personal passions and commitments of our team members. It demonstrates our belief that supporting colleagues in doing good not only strengthens local communities but also enriches our own workplace culture.
A recent example comes from Lesley Greenhalgh, NHS Supply Chain Contract Coordinator, who is actively involved in the management of The Funky Choir – a Crewe-based choir with charitable status. The choir regularly performs across the region, raising vital funds for both local and national causes.
Using one of her Banner charity days, Lesley joined the choir in performing at two VE Day events, one in Nantwich Town Square and the other at a local care home. These performances brought people together in remembrance and celebration, while also raising £900 for the Royal British Legion.
Speaking about the experience, Lesley said: “I am lucky to work for a company that not only supports but encourages employees to get involved with charitable activities. Using a charity day to sing with my choir, The Funky Choir, was really special. It gave me the chance to do something I love while contributing to a cause that means a lot to me and to so many others.”
Lesley’s story is just one example of how our people are putting their charity days to meaningful use. From environmental projects to supporting local foodbanks, our employees continue to show the power of individual action backed by collective support.
Banner is proud to see our colleagues using their time, skills, and passions to give back and we’re committed to supporting them every step of the way.
